Independence Day

We decided that since we are leaving the island soon that it would be nice to go back to Turtle Bay Resort one more time since that is where we got married. We stayed at the hotel for three days and enjoyed the time away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. We had a nice dinner at the golf course our first night and listened to music at the Surf Bar to finish out the night. Island music isn't so bad, I just can't listen to it ALL the time.
The next day we had a semi early start because Tony convinced me that we should do a Segway tour!! I really do think they are one of the nerdiest inventions but much to my surprise we had a lot of fun. They are pretty easy to drive and a benefit of doing this on the North Shore was that they were equipped to go on rough terrain. We were able to ride them through the dirt, sand, and trees. It is faster than walking and we were able to drive all over the property.
After our Segway tour we hit the beach to relax for a while. We had a free snorkel rental so we swam around in the bay to see what we could find. It wasn't the best day to look for fish but we tried. We spent a couple hours laying in the sun but had to go back to our room to get ready for our fourth of July dinner. I thought we would be enjoying a nice Italian dinner but I was wrong. Everything for the evening was buffet style to accommodate all the people that were staying at the hotel. At least I made a reservation. The food was still amazing though!! We always enjoy dressing up. After we finished our meal we headed out to watch the fireworks. Unfortunately this didn't work out so well. We had a downpour of rain and got soaken wet. We did still see the fireworks but it would have been much nicer if we were dry.
On our last day at the hotel we took a drive over to BYU to go to the bookstore and look around. We didn't find very much we were interested in so we went back to Turtle Bay and rented the best bicycle on the planet!! We had sooooo much fun pedaling around on it. We biked all over the trails and got lost. Some how we ended up on the golf course and couldn't figure out how to get back to where we were supposed to be. This meant we did the next best thing......follow the cart path back to the clubhouse!! We died laughing the whole time. Of course we looked strange on a bright red bicycle with a canopy!! We tried really hard to be quiet but the strange looks we were getting made it impossible. Eventually we got back to where we belonged and returned the stupid thing!!
After returning the bike we ate a quick lunch and went to play a round of golf before heading back to our home in Ewa. We had a wonderful staycation and were very happy to be spending the fourth of July together.
